Cannabis Use for Palliative Care

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This presentation will discuss cannabis research and applications for symptom management for hospice and palliative care. Topics will include cannabinoids, routes of administration, clinical applications, and potential drug-drug interactions. Special focus will be placed on symptom management such as chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia.

  • Understand the different routes of administration, and risks and benefits with each route.
  • Discuss different cannabinoids that can be helpful for pain, anxiety, and/or insomnia.
  • Explain how cannabinoids may interfere with other medications.

Eloise Theisen, AGPCNP-BC 
CEO, Radicle Health Care

Eloise Theisen, AGPCNP-BC, is a board-certified Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in nursing. She started her own cannabis practice in 2014 and she has treated over 7000 patients using cannabis. Eloise was one of the first healthcare professionals to bring a clinical dosing regimen to the cannabis space and has assembled the knowledge and data to use cannabis to treat a broad range of conditions and disease, especially those that commonly afflict seniors—pain, insomnia, anxiety, and depression.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Full attendance at the live webinar (you must attend a minimum of 50 minutes) is a prerequisite for receiving professional continuing education credit. Attendees requesting CE credit must each call into the webinar individually using the call-in number and computer link from your instruction email for your attendance to be documented. If you do not follow these directions, there is no official documentation of your attendance, and you will not receive CE credit for this webinar. Ask us about special arrangements offered to CCCC organization members.

You are also required to complete an online survey within 14 days following the webinar to receive a CE certificate or certificate of attendance. A link to the evaluation will be provided in an email sent to you within 48 hours following the webinar. The email will also include links to the presentation recording and slides. Certificates will be sent via email. 

Nursing: Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP 15403, for one (1) contact hour.

Chaplains: This program may be used for continuing education credit for chaplains certified with the Board of Chaplaincy Certification Inc.
