Jennifer Moore Ballentine is CEO of the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California. She is an educator, consultant, and advocate with more than 25 years’ experience and expertise in palliative care and hospice, adult education, healthcare ethics and policy. She is the former executive director of the California State University Shiley Haynes Institute for Palliative Care and previously held leadership roles for Life Quality Institute, The Denver Hospice, and the Colorado Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. Ms. Ballentine serves on the Palliative Care and Caregiver Supports Council for the National Alliance for Care at Home; Public Policy Committee for the National Coalition of Hospice and Palliative Care (NCHPC); the Palliative Care Advisory Panel for the Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics, University of Southern California; the California Department of Aging's CalCARES Steering Committee and Elder and Disability Justice Coordinating Council; and the Board of Directors for the National POLST Collaborative. She is a member of the expert panel convened to update the NQF Clinical Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care, an effort convened by the NCHPC. She has delivered hundreds of in-services, Grand Rounds, professional trainings and state and national workshops as well as keynote and plenary presentations at professional and academic conferences in the field of palliative care. Ms. Ballentine has authored or coauthored articles for peer-reviewed and trade journals and professional book chapters, serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Palliative Medicine, and has provided expertise in legislative hearings, media outlets, and research projects. She earned a Master’s degree in End-of-Life Studies at Regis University (with graduate honors), a Professional Advancement Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs, and a Bachelor’s degree at Oberlin College (Phi Beta Kappa).
